The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a Counsellor Therapist 2 for a part-time, temporary (12 months) position in the Borderline Personality Disorder Service. Reporting to the Manager and clinic head the successful candidate will be provide services such as: assessment, individual and group treatment, as well as case management functions. As a member of a team with a teaching and training mandate, the successful incumbent may also be responsible for coordinating the clinic’s educational activities. The position involves group facilitation, individual assessments, treatment planning and some case management both in person and on-line. You will ensure that care is coordinated where multiple services are involved. You will be able to work with clients and family members from diverse populations; contribute to program development; provide education support and supervision to students and participate in the research activities of the program. The successful candidate will be involved in supporting the inter-professional team and community outreach initiatives. Candidates must be capable of providing supervision of psychotherapy students, contributing to the development of best practices unique to this field and also teaching to other professionals. Supporting continuous quality improvement is required. Workload data entry is a job requirement. You will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. Other related duties as assigned. Some evening hours are required. This position is located at the Queen Street Site, 60 White Squirrel Way and will involve virtual work as well.

The successful candidate will possess a Masters Degree in a related discipline, combined with supervised training in DBT with at least 3 years demonstrated experience conducting DBT for individuals with borderline personality disorder. As a registered member in good standing with a regulated health care discipline, you must show proof of registration with the respective College (e.g. College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). For regulated health professionals from the CRPO, one must be an RP in independent practice (RP Qualifying members, and RPs not yet in independent practice are not eligible to apply). The successful candidate must have at least 2 years participating in a DBT team consult model and eligibility for DBT certification is an asset. The successful candidate must have extensive experience facilitating dbt groups and individual dbt sessions for more than 3 years. Demonstrated successful experience in capacity building activities within health care and educational activities with students is an asset.

The ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively (verbal and written) are required. Knowledge and demonstrated skills in the conduct of dialectical behavior therapy is required. Skills in structured clinical assessment would also be an asset. Establishing and maintaining therapeutic relationships with client and the ability to facilitate group therapy and individual counselling are essential in this role. Experience with the team approach to treatment is required. The candidate must have strong interpersonal skills. Knowledge of community resources in substance abuse and mental health treatment is essential. The ability to provide culturally competent service to clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds is essential. Additionally, knowledge of and experience with word-processing packages and basic computer operations is required. Knowledge of and experience with computerized client information databases would be an asset. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
