The Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics (KCNI) at CAMH is dedicated to transforming the understanding and treatment of mental illness through multi-scale brain modeling, artificial intelligence, and large-scale data integration. By integrating multi-modal brain data-including genetic, MRI, EEG, actigraphy and electronic medical record data-KCNI applies computational modelling to uncover new insights into mental health. With a focus on open science, health equity, fairness, reproducible research, and a patient-centric approach, the Centre drives innovation to accelerate the identification, management, and treatment of mental health disorders, while also shaping policy at both national and global levels. The team at the KCNI is comprised of approximately 100 scientists, postdoctoral fellows, research trainees and technical staff. Job Description

The Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics (KCNI) at CAMH is seeking a full-time, permanent, outstanding early to mid-career Scientist with expertise in Artificial Intelligence. Working in a highly collaborative inter-disciplinary research environment, the successful candidate will be expected to develop and carry out an independent program of research contributing to KCNI's mission, and lead all aspects of research projects. They will secure, maintain and manage competitive extramural funding sources for those activities, and generate high-impact research outputs, including an active publication record. They will also disseminate research results through presentations at academic meetings and conferences and communicate ideas to key decision makers. The successful candidate will be required to establish local, national, and international collaborations, and contribute administratively to the scientific community through service on committees, leadership advisory groups, and peer review activities. The successful candidate will supervise, mentor, and support the training of undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate trainees as well as technical staff.

This position is located at 250 College Street, Toronto, Ontario and offers a competitive salary, start-up funding, and benefits package.

Candidates must have completed their PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computational Neuroscience, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline. A minimum of three years post-doctoral / post-graduate or equivalent experience is required (5 or more years of independent research experience preferred).

Experience with neuroscience, mental health, or other health disciplines is an asset. The main criterion for selection is scholarly excellence. An excellent publication record and proven aptitude in writing first authored peer-reviewed publications in top-tier venues is required. The candidate must have demonstrated success in obtaining externally funded competitive grants. They must have a demonstrated ability in the design, management and execution of high quality research projects.

CAMH is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and the successful applicant will need to obtain academic affiliation with a university department at the Assistant Professor level or above. If applicable, the successful candidate may also be considered by the Vector Institute for appointment as Faculty Member or Faculty Affiliate.

They must also have excellent potential for academic teaching. The successful candidate will also possess sound judgment, excellent organizational, communication (verbal/written) and strong analytical skills. The demonstrated ability to cultivate internal and external relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues, decision makers and the scientific community is required. The Scientist must be able to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team. The capacity to work with individuals of diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds is required. Bilingualism (English/French) and/or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
