As a result of the incumbent accepting a promotion in another province, Chinook School Division is searching for a Superintendent of Learning starting August 1, 2024. The Chinook School Division is proud to serve southwest Saskatchewan's approximately 6,000 students with collegial, student centered teachers and support staff. Our team operates 60 schools - 29 Public and 31 Hutterian, located from the Cypress Hills, to the South Saskatchewan River, through the City of Swift Current, on to Hodgeville, and down to the Grasslands National Park.

Some aspects of the positions include:

Playing a key role in the Senior Leadership Team

Providing leadership to meet student needs and program goals within the provincial K-12 curriculum

Providing leadership and strategies to improve student achievement within the Division

Assessing existing programs and services then advocating and implementing appropriate changes or enhancements to these programs and services

Understand best practices on effects of actions and duties, as they impact on student learning and the professional activities of staff

Knowledge and awareness of trends and needs in the education of students

To apply you should have:

Qualifications for LEADS membership. A person shall be eligible for membership in the League if he or she possesses the qualifications as follows:

8.1 Holds or meets the requirements to hold a Professional ‘A’ Teacher’s Certificate issued pursuant to “The Teacher Certification and Classification Regulations, 2002” under The Education Act, 1995

8.2 Has completed the requirements at a recognized university for: a) A Master of Education degree, or; b) A Master of Business Administration degree or a Master of Public Administration degree, or; c) A Master’s degree in a field related to the duties of an educational administrator, as approved by the executive.

8.3 Submits evidence to the League of a minimum of two years teaching experience at the elementary or secondary level acceptable to the executive

8.4 Demonstrates good character satisfactory to the executive

8.5 Has been designated by the Educational Relations Board pursuant to s. 266 of The Education Act, 1995 as not being a teacher

8.6 Is not employed under s. 200 of The Education Act, 1995 by the same board of education for which the out of scope designation is sought

Minimum of 10 years successful experience in a teaching role.

Experience as a Principal is an asset, but a minimum of 5 years as a school based administrator is required.

Demonstrated knowledge of Saskatchewan Curriculum and Ministry of Education initiatives

Knowledge of best practices in educational leadership, professional learning communities, assessment, effective schools research and application to the work of school-based administration

Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member

Demonstrated ability to establish a rapport with and act as a role model for administration and staff

Demonstrated ability to supervise, plan, and facilitate meetings as well as professional growth opportunities

Superior interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written

Valid Driver’s license

Initiative with the ability to work independently and produce results under pressure

High degree of discretion and personal integrity with the ability to safeguard sensitive and controversial matters in a confidential manner
