What to Expect:

The Stylist is responsible for working with a diverse set of products, with an emphasis on apparel on-site at our studio in Scarborough, ON. This role will work directly with the Lead Stylist and collaborate with the studio team to ensure the brand aesthetic is successfully translated through styling, both on and off-figure. The Stylist must be able to work under fast-paced conditions and be flexible to adapt to change within the pre-production and shoot process. A portfolio demonstrating experience with on and off figures is required.

This role will actively support our DE&I framework by identifying opportunities to increase the diversity of our products and brands. They will lead with inclusion to nurture our One Team culture by removing barriers for our Associates and communities.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform high-volume on-mannequin styling of garments and outfits, styling a minimum of 45 pieces per day with a strong eye for detail

  • Perform high-volume off-figure styling, in a vast array of home and lifestyle categories

  • Collaborate with our studio teams to deliver consistent, high-quality product photography while adhering to The Bay’s visual standards

  • Partner with studio teams to improve on set workflow and to meet daily volume expectations

  • Follow established styling guides to critically identify and anticipate potential photo and styling concerns of samples pre-shoot

  • Prepare (iron and steam) product for shoots and ensure the product is consistent with established style and brand guidelines

  • Become familiar with, research, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of current and newly onboarded designers, brands, and collections

  • Participate in the constant improvement of The Bay’s visual content through actively testing new concepts and styling techniques jointly with the Lead Stylist; research and develop best practices for styling new categories and projects, assist the Lead Stylist with in consistent maintenance of the styling standards site

  • Assist in the ongoing accumulation of the prop closet, support the Lead Stylist with maintenance and organization of studio space and props

  • Support Lead Stylist with training new talent as needed

  • Adapt to schedule changes, manage time wisely, find ways to maximize efficiency

  • Up-to-date on styling industry tools and techniques

  • Assist in other areas of catalogue operations as volume requires

  • Perform regular maintenance of studio sets, prep area, and styling tools.

What you will bring to the team:

  • 3-5 years of on-set experience within high-end retail fashion and/or e-commerce

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Photography, Graphic Design, Fashion Design, or a related discipline is an asset

  • Experience working with the Looklet system as an asset

  • Familiarity with garment construction, fabric content, garment care, and handling, colour, and matching

  • Knowledge of and passion for current trends

  • Experience pulling and creating fashion-forward looks

  • Exceptional steaming and ironing skills with experience using industrial-grade irons and steamers, as well as a wide array of styling tools and techniques

  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to perform under pressure and intermittent volume

  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills

  • Operating experience of Mac OS

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and comfortable working with continual repetitive movements throughout a 7.5-hour shift (walking, bending, stretching, twisting, and lifting)
