This posting is for new graduates who have recently completed their program during 2024 from a related College Diploma/University program.

The Durham District School Board (DDSB) is responsible for public education in the rural settings of Uxbridge, Brock and Scugog Townships and the urban settings of Ajax, Whitby, Pickering, and Oshawa.

Supply Educational Assistants accept assignments within our board that could last one day or several days in multiple schools. Our supply EAs are essential to ensure coverage and support when staff are absent.

The Supply EA list is a great way to get to know the school communities in DDSB.

Job Summary :

To assist the classroom teacher in the education of students with exceptionalities. The deployment and assignment of duties within the school of a classroom assistant who is to work in a classroom setting, are the responsibility of the teacher involved, in consultation with the principal.

Major Duties :

1. Assist Teacher in the Teaching and Learning Process

2. Prepare Classroom Material and Equipment as Directed

3. Maintain Class and Student Records, Charts and Files as Directed

4. Assist with General Pupil Supervision as Directed

5. Supervise, Observe and Correct Students' Behaviour as Directed

6. Instruct and Assist Students with Basic Life Skills as Directed

7. Provide Physical Assistance to Students as Directed

8. Assist in the Integration of Students into a Program as Directed

9. Assist in the Physical Development of Students as directed

10. Accompany and Assist Students in their Job Placements

11. Provide Physical and Other Assistance to students

12. Assist with the Education of a student who is Blind.

13. Assist with the Education of Students who are Deaf and/or Non-Verbal

14. Perform such other Duties as may be Assigned by the Principal or the Teacher.
