OPPORTUNITY

The mechanical engineering department at ÉTS is recruiting professors who specialize in mechanical engineering. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in research and teaching in undergraduate and graduate programs. The research and teaching activities of the person soughed will joint those already in place in the areas of expertise sought.

Sought area of expertise:

The ideal candidate possesses general knowledge in the field of Mechanical Engineering, with specialized knowledge in the areas solid mechanics and mechanical design. The expertise required for this position should ideally cover at least one of the following areas of research:

  • Numerical modeling of multi-physical and multi-scale problems;

  • High-performance computing;

  • Modern machine learning methods applied to multi-physical problems.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The candidates sought will:

  • Teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in fields related building mechanics;
  • Mentor graduate students;
  • Carry out funded, potentially interdisciplinary research projects with local, national and international partners;
  • Develop a research program;
  • Publish scientific articles;
  • Complete grant applications, particularly those directed at NSERC and FQRNT.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must hold a Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in engineering in a related field,
  • Must have industry experience or experience conducting research in close collaboration with industry (if the candidate does not have related industry experience, then such experience may be substituted by solid R&D experience, or the candidate must agree to acquire such experience through an industrial practicum);
  • Must demonstrate excellent research and teaching skills.
  • Be proficient in French (oral and written), in compliance with the ÉTS Language Policy (in French), or demonstrate a willingness to learn French and enter into a French training program with the support of ÉTS.
