Manager- Resident Manager. Oakview Place.

Report To

Administrator/ Executive Director

Qualifications

Degree in Recreation or related field

OR

Diploma in Recreation and a management course

OR

Diploma in a related field plus a management course or adapted programming course

Technical Competencies

Working Knowledge of: Human Resources Management & Labour Relations, Complaint Resolution, Public Relations, Financial Management and Budgeting Principles, Long Term Care Industry, Applicable Contractual & Legislative Requirements, CQI Principles, Project Management Principles, Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, Facilitation Skills

Experience

1-2 years' experience preferably in a long-term care setting.

Supervisory experience

Experience in assessing activation needs, development, implementation and evaluation of activation programs

Key Accountabilities

Resident Programming

  • Therapeutic program development & delivery in collaboration with other departments
  • Diversional program development & delivery in collaboration with other departments
  • Documentation
  • Participates in IDTC’s
  • Resident programming, including special events & facility functions

Public Relations

  • Fundraising
  • Liaison with stakeholders eg, schools, families, and community groups

Customer Service

  • Pastoral service
  • Advocacy
  • Participates in developing action plans to resolve customer complaints/concerns
  • Communicates the activities of the department to residents, staff, families and the community to encourage participation in programs

Financial Management

  • Manages departmental/program budget
  • Participates in budget planning

Human Resources

  • Volunteer recruitment/management
  • Recruitment
  • Selection
  • Coaches, mentors and supervises departmental/program staff
  • Performance management
  • Scheduling & Payroll

Quality Improvement & risk management

  • Obtains feedback from customer and implements improvement strategies
  • Monitors and assesses service delivery
  • Implements process improvement activities.

Occupational Health and Safety Accountabilities

  • Provide direction in accordance with applicable Occupational Health and Safety legislation and Company policy to:
    • Workers,
    • Volunteers,
    • Contractors.
  • Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of the worker.
  • Carry out all assigned duties in compliance with applicable Occupational Health and Safety legislation and Company policy.
  • Participate in all required occupational health and safety training.
  • Report any known or identified health and safety hazards or violations to their supervisor.
  • Refrain from any conduct that puts themselves, workers, contractors or others at risk.

MDS Accountabilities

  • Provides leadership and support on RAI coding/auditing and data management
  • Makes recommendations to improve privacy and confidentiality of health information
  • Coordinates the completion of MDS assessment on all residents within established timelines.
  • Key contact for all staff on MDS and RAI completion

  • Respects and preserves the privacy, confidentiality and security of health care and employee information at all times. Violations of this statement include, but are not limited to:
  • accessing confidential information that is not within the scope of the individuals duties
  • misusing, disclosing without proper authorization, or altering confidential information
  • disclosing to another person the unique username or password for accessing electronic confidential health care information
  • using another person’s username or password to access information
  • discussing confidential information in a public area
  • leaving confidential health care or employee information in public areas
  • disposing of confidential information inappropriately

Resident/Family Safety Accountabilities

  • In the interest of the safety of residents and family members, employees while on duty are accountable to carry out all duties assigned within the scope of their job in compliance with applicable legislation, standards and company policy.
