Job Description

RESIDENT PROGRAM MANAGER
Extendicare Bonnyville
Candidates are invited to apply for the above full-time position to work at our Extendicare Bonnyville 50-bed long-term care facility, located in Bonnyville, Alberta.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan, organize, direct and supervise the department program which includes: recreational, restorative care, pastoral care, social work, music therapist and volunteers.
  • Implement and evaluate program relating to the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual needs of the residents.
  • Coordinate activities with those of other departments and inform administration of departmental activities, needs and problems.
  • Develop departmental goals and objects.
  • Actively participate in program delivery.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor programming budget.
  • Satisfy Health Record as they pertain to the department (MDS experience an asset)
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, gerontology or other related field from a community college or university required
  • Knowledge of the concepts of Restorative care, Holistic care, Activation and Dementia Care
  • Previous Experience in a health care or other relevant setting required.
  • Experience in planning, developing and evaluating effectiveness of individual and group programming for frail, elderly residents using an interdisciplinary approach
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and have a command of the English language.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner
  • Knowledge of community resources, program development, CCHSS standards
  • Previous supervisory experience in long term care an asset
  • Experience with an older adult population an asset
  • Strong customer and resident service skills.
  • Experience in a high paced customer service setting an asset
  • Flexible and willingness to learn new tasks
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to quickly changing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions in English (other languages an asset)
  • Sufficient knowledge and experience to coordinate religious services and spiritual care in a multi-faith setting required
  • At least one year of experience with seniors in an organized program or one year of experience with persons in a health care setting required
  • Experience or knowledge in recruitment, selection, orientation, placement and supervision of volunteers required
Time Type: Full time, 40 hrs/ week
