Job Description:

The Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit (RCIA) Transformation Business Analyst will support the RCIA Transformation Director to achieve GRC integration between the functions in four aspects: vision execution, operational alignment, technology implementation oversight, and change management.

The RCIA functions have adopted Archer as our GRC (Governance, Risk and Controls) tool. While Archer is employed by each function to achieve their own mandate, a unique opportunity exists to use Archer for further alignment or integration of Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit on common elements for a greater consistency and ease of use by the functions and the businesses.

The role provides a unique opportunity to interact with senior level RCIA management and further enhance essential capabilities in RCIA.

What will you do?

  • Support the RCIA Transformation Director by building, sustaining, and evolving the Integrated Risk Management Program into the new Integrated Risk Management (IRM)/Governance Risk Compliance (GRC) tool

  • Work alongside stakeholders in Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit, and gain exposure into each of these areas by providing support to the teams on key transformations and identifying opportunities to drive synergies across RCIA

  • An initial priority is to support with ongoing synergy initiatives and manage planned RCIA synergy opportunities in the IRM/GRC

  • Adopt a digital mindset to analyze and challenge current processes and drive outcomes by working with technical experts to realize benefits from optimization

  • Manage multiple, simultaneous priorities through developing project plans and monitoring/ reporting/ influencing traction to ensure implementation is completed on time and within budget

  • Coordinate, review, and document business requirements, solicit feedback, and ensure the project meets the RCIA stakeholders’ needs

  • Liaise with multiple teams and lead communications and relationships to facilitate smooth delivery

  • Develop partnerships and co-ordinate with Sun Life Technology teams and third parties (vendors, outsourcing providers, consultants) to ensure consistent and coordinated solutions are implemented

  • Make significant contributions to change management to help implement innovative solutions and drive toward achievement of common goals

Knowledge and practices

  • Support the RCIA Transformation Director on enhancing process efficiency, education and training, communication, and annual planning of Archer programs

  • Help oversee Archer system maintenance including upgrades, outages, and monitoring

  • Work with the RCIA technical leads, Sun Life Technology teams and third parties to strengthen and implement change management protocols and practices

  • Review Archer performance monitoring results periodically to recommend changes to tools, data and processes and assist with implementing the changes

  • Support stakeholders with day-to-day challenges in using Archer in a timely manner

  • Be curious and explore different approaches in the industry to be able to compare current practices with a continuous improvement mindset

  • Proactively identify opportunities for efficiency gains through GRC tools / approaches and collaboration with RCIA global teams

What do you need to succeed?

  • Good understanding of the three lines of defense model; Risk, Compliance or Internal Audit practices and standards; and process design and regulatory requirements

  • Good understanding of change management practices

  • Experience with managing major system implementations with time-sensitive deliveries

  • Ability to team well with peers and to build and maintain relationships with all employee levels

  • Quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication, both verbally and in writing, skills

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively influence key players, manage multiple stakeholder groups, and build and maintain relationships

  • Ability to manage complexity, deal with pressure and resolve conflicts

The following would be an asset:

  • Working knowledge of key GRC or IRM systems is a nice to have , e.g., Archer, MetricStream, Refinitiv, ServiceNow

  • Education, professional certification or designation in Risk, Compliance, or Audit with at least 3 years’ experience in the financial services industry

  • Knowledge of data visualization principles and software (e.g., Tableau)

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
