Job Summary

Fraser Health (FH) is the heart of health care for nearly two million people in 20 diverse communities from Burnaby to Fraser Canyon on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Coast Salish and Nlaka’pamux Nations and is home to six Métis Chartered Communities.

Our hospital and community-based services are delivered by a team of 45,000+ staff, medical staff and volunteers dedicated to serving our patients, families and communities.

The Psychiatry department in Fraser Health is seeking a part time to full-time Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to provide clinical services to our Child and Youth Young Adult out-patient clinics in Fraser North, serving Burnaby, Coquitlam, Port Moody and Maple Ridge.  Programs served can be tailored to psychiatrist interest, with options including work with the START program, the Neuropsychiatry program, the Infant Program, the Transition team (serving patients recently seen in our emergency departments), Concurrent Disorders and the Integrated case management Program in Maple Ridge (collaborating with CYMH and the school system).  Call responsibilities to the Surrey Memorial Hospital Emergency Department Child Psychiatry Stream will include day call coverage only, with optional night call involvement.

 

As a vital member of multidisciplinary teams, you'll deliver top-notch care to adolescents and their families.

Your duties encompass initial assessment, patient treatment and follow up, family meetings, team meetings, case conferences, and collaborating with other physicians and multidisciplinary teams. You'll actively foster continuity of care by nurturing positive relationships with all involved in patient care and services, while advocating for the psychiatric needs of each individual patient.

Furthermore, you'll supervise residents and medical students, engage in clinically related teaching services, provide educational consultation and input to the multidisciplinary team, and assist in delivering educational programs for medical staff and students. Your responsibilities extend to participating in evaluating the efficiency, quality, and delivery of services, and, where appropriate, providing consultation for program and service development, as well as engaging in clinical research activities as indicated.
