The Good Spirit School Division invites applications for a Casual Caretaker. Casuals are called in as required when a permanent employee is absent. Caretakers are valuable members of the team who provide for a clean, functional and attractive environment in all facilities owned and operated by the Division.

The duties of a Caretaker are to:

Provide general care, upkeep, and maintenance on the school plant, the school grounds and school equipment including but not limited to:

The operation and checks of building mechanic systems.

Minor repairs in and around the school building as required.

Janitorial duties, snow removal, floor refinishing and upkeep of the school and school grounds.

Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Caretaker Coordinator and those listed in Job Description - Facilities: Caretaker.

The successful candidate will have the desired qualifications:

Minimum Grade 10 Education or equivalent.

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certification.

Level 1 Occupational Health and Safety.

A valid driver’s license.

Take pride in maintaining a clean and operational facility.

Direct experience in the caretaking field and the ability to work independently and as a team member would be considered an asset.

Applicants not currently working for GSSD will be required to submit a recent (within the last six months) criminal record and vulnerable sector check acceptable to the Board of Education prior to offer of employment.
