Description
The Greater Essex County District School Board invites Chartered Professional Accountants (CPAs)
who are looking for career growth and advancement to apply for this exciting opportunity at one of the
region's largest employers. This permanent, full time, C.U.P.E. 1348 bargaining unit position reports
directly to the Accounting Supervisor. The Senior Accountant will assist in carrying out all statutory
duties as set out in the Ontario Education Act, pertinent legislation and Board policies, regulations and
administrative procedures. As a member of the Financial Services team, the successful candidate will
participate in the implementation of department goals, budgets and programs. The position is expected
to begin as soon as possible.
Job Summary:
FTE : 1.0 (35 hours per week)
Salary: $80,134.60 to $84,120.40
Start Date: Immediately
Nature & Scope of Position:
Assist in complex problem resolution and troubleshooting.
Assist with ad-hoc reporting, analysis and team projects as needed.
Develop and maintain management reporting.
Assist with funding/grants analysis and liaison to department leads.
Perform financial forecasting, reporting, analysis, and operational metrics tracking.
Support the internal audit function.
Analyze financial data and create financial models for decision support.
Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with budget.
Identify and drive process improvements, including the implementation and integration of new
financial system processes.
Demonstrate a commitment to and documented success in working to create a fair, inclusive, antiracist environment for all stakeholders, and to supporting diverse constituencies and populations.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
Strong analytical and data gathering skills.
Strong quantitative and analytical competency
Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Ability to identify, resolve and/or escalate issues using good professional judgement.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise discretion.
