Duties to Commence: Immediately until June 27, 2025 with the possibility of extension beyond this school year.
Position Description: This position is funded through a Mental Health Grant from the Government of Alberta. The Psychologist & Mental Health Consultant will provide leadership, supervision and mentorship for the Division’s teacher-counsellors, as well as Divisional support in the area of mental health. In addition, this role will provide leadership for psychoeducational assessments and case consultation at schools for students with diverse needs. This position will be a key member of the Student Support Services team in overall service to the Division.
This position will be based out of Division Services Centre located in St. Albert. The Psychologist & Mental Health Consultant will have to be flexible in the hours of work, dependent upon the needs of the Division; and may travel to any of the Division schools or sites as needed.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in counselling/psychology with a current Registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP)
A passion for supporting counselling programming in the education sector and mental health services for students
Bachelor’s degree in education with a valid teaching certificate is considered an asset
Duties & Responsibilities:

Apply foundational knowledge about First Nations, Métis and Inuit for the benefit of all students, and support the Division’s goals towards advancing Truth and Reconciliation
Leading and organizing professional learning for staff in areas of mental health, student services, counselling, assessments, and other related areas
Supervise university students who are completing masters or PHD work within the Division
Lead or engage in case consultation for students with diverse needs
Provide supervision, collaboration, and mentorship to teacher-counsellors
Provide supports to school staff based on a variety of student needs
Complete and interpret psychoeducational assessments
Familiar with the developmental, educational, emotional, social and recreational needs of children, youth, and families
Strong relationship-building skills
Skill and knowledge of facilitation, positive communication and creative thinking
Solid comprehension and practice of personal and professional boundaries
Creative problem-solving and decision-making skills
Comfortable liaising with community members, school staff, community agencies and healthcare providers
The successful candidate must provide a criminal record check
The successful candidate must provide proof of licensure or registration with the approved Alberta regulatory college, prior to commencing duties where applicable:
Regulated health professions under the Alberta Health Professions Act and Health Disciplines Act will be required to show an original copy of a valid practice permit before commencing their duties
Other professions governed by government acts, college or regulatory body requirements may be required to provide additional documentation.
