Speech Language Assistant

Part Time - 7hours/week

Position: A speech language assistant is required to provide speech-language support, under the direction of a Speech-Language Pathologist. The successful candidate will work as a member of a trans-disciplinary team to support children with speech-language intervention at the Early Learning/Elementary/Junior High level. Travel to other sites in Morinville may be required.

Duties to Commence: As soon as possible

Qualifications & Duties:

Committed to being a model and witness to Christ-centered education values and beliefs.

Apply foundational knowledge about First Nations, Métis and Inuit for the benefit of all students, and support the Division’s goals towards advancing Truth and Reconciliation.

Completion of Speech-Language Assistant Program.

Experience working with children with speech-language challenges.

Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to work on a multi-disciplinary team and to engage children.

Ability to implement program plans that are directed by the Speech Language Pathologist.

Ability to work independently implementing speech-language programming.

Ability to collect, record and report on specific progress regarding speech and language skills.

Physical ability to play with children in various positions, at their level.

Ability to manage challenging behaviors in a calm, proactive manner.

Work on articulation, phonological awareness, and language goals with students.
