JOB SUMMARY:

Note: The ability to work both day and afternoon shifts, on a rotating basis, is required for this position.

Under the direction of the Senior Manager, School Operations, the Facility Manager will oversee the activities of all custodians and part-time staff in the Board’s facilities, to provide a clean, safe environment for students, teachers and the public. The Facility Manager will inspect school buildings and grounds to ensure Board standards are being adhered to. The Facility Manager will prepare permits for after-hours school use; ensure staffing and set-ups for after hours groups; supervise and report on after hours school groups.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE :

§ A diploma from a community college in a related field is preferred.

§ A minimum of two (2) successful years in custodial supervision is preferred.

§ Knowledge of school board policies and procedures.

§ Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Employment Standards Act, Ontario Building Code, Ontario

Fire Code, Electrical Safety Code and other relevant codes and standards.

§ Experience with Collective Agreements.

§ Excellent organizational, planning and communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; excellent analytical skills,

excellent negotiating skills.

§ Excellent computer skills (MS Office Suite, including e-mail, spreadsheets, databases, project management,

presentation packages, eBase and other appropriate software packages).

§ Procurement knowledge with respect to Broader Public Sector Guidelines would be an asset.

§ People management experience within a unionized environment would be an asset.

§ Candidates must be familiar with custodial operations.

§ Must be familiar with continuous improvement philosophy.

§ Project Management experience pertaining to Building Condition Improvement Projects would be an asset.

§ Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.

  • an original Criminal Reference Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening, dated within the last six (6) months
