The psychologist at the Juravinski Cancer Centre will serve as an invaluable member of an interprofessional team that is dedicated to providing family-centered care to improve the physical and psychological wellbeing of those living with cancer.  The psychologist will be responsible for leveraging their expertise to provide direct psychological services to patients and will work closely with team members to meet the program’s vision of delivery person-centered, integrated care. 


Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from a CPA/APA accredited program.
  • Registered (or eligible for registration) with the College of Psychologists of Ontario in Clinical Psychology and Health Psychology with a preference for autonomous practice; must be authorized to work with adults (additional competency with seniors preferred).
  • Extensive knowledge of adult psycho-oncology and behavioral medicine with particular expertise in the intersection between cancer and mental health.
  • Experience in conducting psychological assessments with medically complex patients, and in the sensitive delivery of mental health diagnoses.
  • Expertise in providing evidence-based psychotherapies (e.g. CBT, ACT, DBT, MI, IPT, etc.) to facilitate adaptive coping with chronic illness and in the treatment of comorbid psychopathology.
  • Advanced skills in clinical research, including program development and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated strengths in consultation, teaching, interprofessional collaboration, and the supervision of advanced learners.
  • Eligible for part-time appointment with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences at McMaster University.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to work effectively with an interprofessional team.
  • Evidence of self-motivation, enthusiasm, and flexibility.
  • Passion for innovation, best practice, and professional growth.
