Description
The Nurse Practitioner - Adult will work in partnership with the medical specialists and other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide advanced nursing care and perform medical acts to support a population of patients with malignant hematological problems, on an inpatient and outpatient basis. The Nurse Practitioner will also play a significant role in the education and counseling of patients and families, and in research activities related to the refinement of
evidence-based practice. The NP provides direct patient care about 80% of the time, and participates in patient population related education, research/quality improvement initiatives and consultation activities the remainder of the time.
2. Current certification of registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in extended class category.
3. Minimum of 5 years recent clinical nursing experience in stem cell and bone marrow transplant activity.
4. Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
5. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
6. Demonstrated ability to function independently.
7. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt positively constantly changing clinical situations.
8. Demonstrated clinical research expertise.
9. Knowledge and experience in change theory and adult learning principles.
10. Effective organizational, conceptual and leadership skills.
11. Effective advanced skills and competencies in interpersonal relations, critical thinking and problem solving, and negotiation and conflict resolution.
12. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to engage in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) intiatives.
13. Active membership in professional nursing association(s) (RNAO, CANO)
