Physician Assistant - Neonatal ICU

The Physician Assistant (PA) will work under the direct supervision of an immediately available Attending Neonatal Intensive Care Physician within a multidisciplinary team in an academic Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The Physician Assistant will play a major role in facilitating consistent application of clinical protocols and continuity of care, and will also identify patients with acute clinical issues common to NICU and work within the multidisciplinary team to appropriately manage patient care. The Physician Assistant will provide a full range of physician assistant services in accordance with privileges granted via a medical directive, request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated, order diagnostic tests as applicable, prescribe and dispense medications as delineated by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

Graduate of Physician Assistant Program
• Prior experience in a Critical Care setting an asset
• Demonstrated ability to make decisions in times of emergencies
• Demonstrated ability to work alongside Intensivists, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses and other Health Care Professionals
