The Physiotherapist provides and documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation within the scope of practice of physiotherapists. As a member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team in pediatric medicine, the Physiotherapist will apply their clinical knowledge of musculoskeletal and respiratory conditions to provide assessment and treatment to children ages 0-18. The Physiotherapist is responsible for assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal and respiratory issues, performing a variety of outcome measures, assisting with clinic flow when required and differentiating mechanical versus inflammatory causes of pain and functional impairments for various patients. The Physiotherapist is also responsible for supporting goal setting with patients and families around transition of care from pediatric to adult care settings, as well as taking on a teaching role for clinic learners (medical students, residents, etc.). Finally, our Physiotherapists take initiative to improve and grow the Physiotherapy role through research, quality improvement, and patient education. 


Qualifications
  • Current Registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Minimum two (2) years of pediatric Physiotherapy experience with involvement in the care of children with rheumatic conditions in both an inpatient and outpatient setting.
  • Recent pediatric experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for working with children
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and non-verbal), critical thinking, mentoring, coaching and working within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated facilitation, coordination, independent assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation skills
  • Experience in rehabilitation therapy
  • Experience in applying braces, splints, and other devices
  • Evidence of ability to facilitate change, foster innovation and model the values of the organization
