The Program Lead of the Simulation, Resuscitation and Outreach Training Center reports directly to the Manager of patient safety, McMaster Children is Hospital and works collaboratively with our frontline teams and medical staff. The Program Lead of the Simulation, Resuscitation and Outreach Training Center is accountable for the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of PEARS, PALS, NRP, ALS, BLS and tracheostomy and ventilator training as well as custom tailored simulation activities. The Program Lead of the Simulation, Resuscitation and Outreach Training Center Outreach/PALS Specialist is a liaison with the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, the McMaster University Continuing Medical Education (CME) and with the McMaster Practical Skills Laboratory.  The Program Lead of the Simulation, Resuscitation and Outreach Training Center is also responsible to participate in and implement new initiatives from time to time such as ACORN (Acute Care of the at Risk Newborn).  Deliverables include sustaining and growing the program.  

 


Qualifications

Qualifications - External
1.  Applicants must have a background in a regulated medical profession such as Nursing, or Respiratory Therapy, or have comparable qualifications such as an international medical graduate.  
2.  Minimum level of education is a Bachelors in a regulated medical field, however preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s degree in a related field.  
3. Minimum five (5) years Pediatric experience
4. Experience as an instructor for at least one of the Heart and Stroke courses such as PEARS/PALS/ALS 
5. NRP Instructor Certified preferred
6. Some knowledge and experience of simulation applications including debriefs
7. Computer office support software knowledge - ie. databases, spreadsheets, presentation software
8. Demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles
9. Excellent communication skills
10. Excellent critical thinking/ problem solving/decision making and conflict resolution skills
11. Strong interpersonal, negotiating, facilitating, consensus-building and teaching skills
12. Strong leadership and excellent presentation skills
13. Demonstrated excellent time management and organizational skills
14. Willingness to learn new skills, supportive of change management
15. Demonstrated dedication to continued education, continuous improvement, process and evaluation
