The Social Worker will be responsible to provide in-depth psychosocial assessments, to include the identification of child, adolescent and family strengths, and assess and incorporate problem-solving abilities, dynamics, interactions, attitudes, feelings and cultural issues in relation to the child and adolescent with an eating disorder. The Social Worker may work collaboratively with the team in the initial multidisciplinary assessment to develop and implement a plan of intervention, which incorporates a range of facets including education, coping and compliance. This will be achieved through a variety of modalities including individual therapy, family therapy, group work, consultation, case management, community outreach and advocacy. The Social Worker will identify and make referrals to appropriate supports and resources as required. The Social Worker will function across inpatient, outpatient and day treatment components of the program providing individual, family and group therapy. The social worker delivers care utilizing Family Based Therapy, Dialectic Behaviour and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy frameworks.


Qualifications

1. Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work 
2. Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers 
3. Minimum of 3 years clinical experience providing individual, family and group therapy to children and teens with eating disorders, within a family context 
4. Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in an inpatient, outpatient and day treatment pediatric eating disorder setting
5. Minimum of 5 years recent and relevant experience in a pediatric mental health setting with expertise in providing individual, group and family therapy for children, adolescents and families 
6. Excellent knowledge and demonstrated use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Family Based Therapy (FBT) and Dialectical Based Therapy, EFFT, with an eating disorder population 
7. Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Consent to Treatment Act, and the Child and Family Services Act 
8. Demonstrated expertise in assessment, psychoeducation, crisis intervention and advocacy skills in working with children, teens and their families experiencing eating disorders 
9. Excellent communication and teamwork skills 
10. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment 
11. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and the ability to teach 
12. Proven ability to organize, prioritize and problem-solve effectively 
13. Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings
