About the Role

Reporting to the Manager, Recruitment & Staffing, and through the direction of the Staffing Officer; the incumbent will support the operational requirements of scheduled staffing processes for certain employee groups. The incumbent will act as a key liaison to a variety of internal and external collaborators and provide confidential staffing support to the Human Resources staffing functions.

Strong customer service focus with an equally strong work ethic and the demonstrated ability to deal with competing priorities, multiple demands, and constant deadlines.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Organize the flow of confidential information related to scheduled staffing processes including input and maintenance of employee information in the HRIS system

Process pay memos, salary, vacation allocation and position changes resulting from job postings in HRIS system

Support the coordination of staffing timelines, job postings, and interview processes for specific employee groups

Participate on interview panels as needed

Participates in on-boarding and orientation processes for new hires

Termination of occasional employees who have not achieved Collective Agreement requirements to remain active as an occasional employee

Calculate, maintain, and update seniority service based on Collective Agreement language

Maintain employees in LTO positions in HRIS system

Calculate experience for pay grid levels based on difference Collective Agreement language

Ensure payroll deadlines are met with all changes required in HRIS system.

Coordinate the storage and retention of confidential staffing records in accordance with privacy legislation and the Boards retention schedule

Qualifications :

Completion of post-secondary education in Human Resources Management combined with a minimum of two years of experience in a human resources capacity in the public sector or equivalent as determined by the Board

Ability to effectively manage multiple conflicting demands in a fast-paced environment

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills related to problem solving and conflict resolution including the ability to manage sensitive employee issues with tact and diplomacy

Customer service-oriented approach with strong communication, planning, organizational, and time management skills

Proficient computer skills including HRIS systems, database management systems and Microsoft Office

Demonstrate an anti-oppressive/anti-racist understanding and be responsive to the needs and interests of diverse collaborators

Demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse school community and/or work environment

The successful applicant may be required to work after hours during peak workload periods
