SUPERVISOR, PAYROLL & BENEFITS

Location: Education Centre, Belleville, Ontario

Schedule: 35 Hours per week

Salary: $103,632 - $110,247

Compensation also includes a comprehensive benefits package (including extended health and dental, life insurance, health care spending account), participation in the OMERS pension plan, competitive vacation and sick leave, and maternity/parental leave top-up, depending on eligibility)

Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board (HPEDSB) serves approximately 15,400 students each day at 39 in-person schools (32 elementary, two K-12; four 7-12, one secondary). Responsibilities: Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance, the Supervisor of Payroll & Benefits will provide effective leadership and oversight in the areas of payroll processing and benefit administration. The Supervisor will develop payroll procedures and ensure compliance; implement and administer department controls; protect financial resources of the Board by monitoring and reconciling payroll and benefit expenditures to ensure compliance with collective agreement provisions and, federal and provincial legislation. Responsible to hire, train and supervise payroll and benefits staff.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess a three year business administration/accounting diploma or other related field experience; National Payroll Institute certification as a Payroll Leadership Professional; five years progressive payroll experience; excellent computer skills and knowledge of payroll procedures within a computerized HRIS/payroll system; strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with a diverse set of stakeholders; demonstrated leadership ability and competencies; strong analytical, critical-thinking and issue-resolution skills; and experience working within a multi-union environment preferred.
