Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band 6, $46.886 to $53.579 (5 step range)

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Radiation Therapist I is responsible for preparing, planning and delivering accurate and precise ionizing radiation treatments to cancer patients according to the prescription of a Radiation Oncologist.  The Radiation Therapist I reports to the Provincial Leader or Site Manager of Radiation Therapy with daily work functions supervised by a Radiation Therapist II.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
  • Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Radiation Therapy
  • Certification for Basic Life Saver (BLS)-C 

Memberships:
  • Licensed with Saskatchewan Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (SAMRT)
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)

Experience:
  • No previous experience

Skills:
  • Proficiency with a variety of computer systems and software applications.
  • Ability to perform a range of Radiation Therapy methods and processes including treatment planning, simulation and treatment.
  • Moderate judgment and problem solving skills are required to select the most appropriate action from a variety of alternatives. 
  • Ability to interpret detailed information and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Human relations skills are required to develop formal relationships of a therapeutic nature to assist others in achieving their short or long term goals.
  • Accuracy of fine motor movements required for operating treatment unit controls, tattooing patients, and data entry.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of culturally responsive care for First Nations and Métis people.
