Location: Centralized Housing Program
Hours of Work: 5 days per week, normally 9am to 5pm, with one evening per week and some flexibility required

This position supports clients across the HFS portfolio to secure and move into housing and adhere to the mission statement and policies & procedures of Homes First Society.
Job Description:- facilitate client movement from shelters to secure long term permanent housing
- recruit and maintain working relationship with landlords to facilitate clients moving into housing
- work with the client services team(s) to ensure clients are supported in their units while the working relationship with landlords are maintained
- Work with clients to complete necessary applications to access housing
- draw on a variety of techniques to secure housing units for clients
- maintain a list of clients who need to be housed that includes client’s rental budget, wants in housing, needs in housing
- Accept referrals from the client services team(s) to support clients to access housing
- Knowledge of rental legislation in Ontario and ability to apply this knowledge to ensure units secured are safe
- Work with other Housing Help Workers across the agency to leverage resources to support clients to get housed such as trading vacant units that are secured but can’t be filled between shelter sites
- knowledge of current housing and support agency providers
- accompany clients in the community to unit viewings as required
- use case management tools to support clients in meeting their goals
- apply knowledge of group processes and dynamics
- use excellent organizational and time management skills
- work independently and as part of a team
- communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Regularly complete client documentation, reports on clients, and providing data to complete reports
- Other duties as required
- Minimum one year experience in related post- secondary education, student placements, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- knowledge of client population, diversity issues, anti-discrimination practices and systemic reasons for
- experience with rental legislation.
