POSITION OVERVIEW:

HongDe ( Virtue) Elementary School is an independent bilingual K-7 school that offers a Chinese (Mandarin) program, an English program, and a Fine Art program. Students learn both languages during part of their school day. There will be 40% of the curriculum taught in Mandarin during K-7 grades and 60% in English. The purpose of the school is to provide programs that teach about traditional Chinese and western culture values as well as to develop virtues and character traits that are essential for society.

Applicants must:

- possess a current Certificate of Qualification from the BC Teacher Certification Branch

-Focus on progressive K-5 skill development in PHE/ Dance classes

- Promote a passion for health, wellness, physical activity and sport

- Native or Native-like fluency in both oral and written traditional Mandarin (not simplified) is required

- Bring a student-centered, inquiry-based and collaborative approach to the delivery of the B.C. curriculum.

-An intelligible incorporation of First Nations principles of learning throughout your practice.

- be prepared to use technology (MS Teams for communication)

-Canadian residency and legally entitled to work in Canada

-The ability to endorse the school’s mission and vision statement

We offer a competitive salary equivalent to BC public school teachers. We also offer small class size teaching ( 4-10 students per class )
