Description
Important:
This is a non-certified casual, on-call position that will require the Classroom Supervisor to be available to work on very short notice.
Classroom Supervisors will be called by school Administrators when a teacher absence cannot be filled by a certified substitute teacher.
Classroom Supervisors do not provide direct teaching. They are not responsible for planning or assessing student work.
Classroom Supervisors follow teacher plans and provide supervision in classrooms while students work.
Assignment:
Provides supervision of classroom routines and directs students appropriately
Maintains a positive learning environment, redirecting student misbehavior where appropriate;
Shares materials, directions, or presentations prepared or provided by the classroom teacher;
Assists, encourages and supervises students in learning activities;
Records student attendance and supervise students entering and leaving the classroom;
Ensures all school and classroom safety procedures are followed appropriately;
Provides notes/communication and observations for the absent teacher;
Maintains confidentiality, privacy and security of students, staff, and other stakeholders;
Performs and fulfills other duties in the form of classroom assistance and supervision as directed by the Principal or designate;
Adheres to all Division policies and procedures
Qualifications:
Communication, relationship, and problem solving skills;
Ability to quickly establish high levels of trust and rapport with students and staff;
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others and deal courteously and tactfully with students;
Knowledge and experience with the use of educational technology;
Knowledge and experience in related subject areas is an asset;
Ability to provide a current criminal record check and child intervention check
Provide applicable documentation of educational experience
Provide appropriate references
Class A $27.00/hr
Class B $25.00/hr
At least two (2) years post-secondary education at a recognized college or university. OR;
Minimum five (5) years experience supervising and working with children or youth in a school setting
Minimum High School Diploma
Some experience working with children an asset
*Must participate in a paid three (3) hour orientation prior to starting the position
