Description
Ten years since opening the doors as North America’s first fully digital hospital, Humber River Health (HRH) remains unwavering in the belief that we can change the hospital where we work, the community where we live, and the world of healthcare beyond our borders. Serving a community of 850,000 residents in Northwest Toronto, Equity and Inclusivity are key initiatives important to Humber River Health. The Hospital makes technology work for staff and physicians; giving them more time to engage with and deliver high quality support to patients, to eliminate inefficiencies, and to reduce the chance of errors. HRH is a community academic hospital and a member of the Toronto Academic Health Sciences Network. Clinical Excellence, Optimizing Care through Technology and Community Connection frame their Research Strategy.
Humber River Health’s dedicated leadership is guided by a volunteer Board of Directors, a group of up to 16 committed members of the community who are focused on the success and constant innovation of Humber River Health. As a member of the Board, and in contributing to the collective achievement of the role of the Board, the Director acts in good faith and in the best interests of the Hospital and, in so doing, supports HRH in fulfilling its mission and discharging its accountabilities. The Board governs and oversees the activities and affairs of the Hospital. Due to upcoming vacancies, the HRH Board has identified governance experience, diversity, strong business acumen, and certain professional attributes as core requirements for consideration to complement their current board of accomplished individuals.
Ideal candidates would be current or former Northwest Toronto residents or those whose lived experience reflects our community and who are deeply committed to the broader healthcare community; and most importantly be keenly interested in quality and accessible patient care and healthcare provision facilitated by digital transformation. The ideal Director actively contributes specific skills and expertise in the areas of technology and innovation, legal, senior executive business leadership, and/or finance, construction and large infrastructure, coupled with governance experience and personal characteristics reflecting the community that HRH serves.

Humber River Health is an equal opportunity employer. In accordance with the Accessible Canada Act, 2019 and all applicable provincial accessibility standards, upon request, accommodation will be provided by both Odgers Berndtson and Humber River Health throughout the recruitment, selection and/or assessment process to applicants with disabilities.
