NOTICE OF VACANCY

POSITION: Manager, Environmental Services, Alliance Wide
Temporary Full-Time (until September 26, 2025)

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager Environmental Services provides overall management of the Environmental Services staff, and influences and advances a culture of quality and safety in the delivery and daily management of supportive services including but not limited to Environmental Services, Waste Management, Pest Control, the Residence and School Marketed Services and day to day operations. In collaboration with the leadership team, the Manager Environmental Services supports the strategic direction of the organization in achieving and an environment free from infection acquisition and transmission.

Through collaboration with the Infection Prevention and Control Department, the Manager
Environmental Services facilitates processes to implement and
sustain best practice standards within a patient-centred, inter-professional collaborative care
environment. The Manager Environmental Services will collaborate with a variety of HPHA leaders to support the sustainability of the Infection Control Committee mandate.
REPORTS TO: Director, Human Resources & Environmental Services

DATE REQUIRED: June 2025

SALARY: $134, 547.00 per annum

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Degree in Healthcare Environmental Services Management or related discipline OR a college diploma from a related program plus a professional designation
• Membership with the Ontario Healthcare Housekeepers Association (OHHA) or Canadian Association of Environmental Management (CAEM) preferred


EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum seven years’ progressive leadership experience in related field
• Experience in a unionized hospital environment an asset


ABILITIES:
• Demonstrated knowledge of best practices relative to: Environmental Services , Linen and Laundry and Waste Management and Green/Recycling initiatives
• Demonstrated leadership in the integration of clinical infection control practices, evidence-based care and safe quality patient care
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Provincial Infectious Disease Advisory Council (PIDAC) standards and their pertinence to Environmental Services Demonstrated knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a large number of staff in a collaborative environment
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in coaching, mentoring, team development, conflict resolution, consultation and interpersonal relationships
• Demonstrated leadership, strategic planning and administrative abilities
• Demonstrated proficiency in advocacy for recycling and green initiatives
• Strong presentation, teaching and group facilitation skills
• Evidence of continued professional growth and/or professional development
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and complete projects as identified
• Able to effectively and efficiently provide business-oriented planning and forecasting
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, coach and develop employees during times of change
• High level of initiative and self-direction
• Ability to research and implement leading practice, evidence-based decision making and quality based programming in order to meet and exceed industry benchmarks and performance metrics
