Our client is a leading mechanical contractor with over 25 years of experience, operating across BC and Alberta. With a proven track record of successful projects throughout Western Canada, they specialize in high-profile builds, including hospitals, community centers, and government buildings. Reporting to the Director of Project Management, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency of the fabrication shop while advancing your career in a company known for internal promotions.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the fabrication shop, ensuring projects align with mechanical specifications, construction drawings, and contract requirements.
- Review and implement approved equipment shop drawings, completing associated checklists.
- Participate in trade coordination and site meetings, leading internal coordination discussions as needed.
- Model and coordinate mechanical systems, including domestic water, hydronic, drainage, and fire protection piping.
- Ensure accurate placement of mechanical equipment and coordination of access hatches and sleeve locations.
- Identify and resolve model clashes using software like Revizto, Navisworks, or ACC.
- Generate layout drawings, export 3D models, and create spool sheets for fabrication.
- Conduct site reviews, verify installations, and update models with real-world conditions.
- Mentor and advise VDC Designers, ensuring compliance with project standards and SOPs.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of experience managing a fabrication shop.
- 2+ years of experience working with mechanical and plumbing systems.
- Proficiency in MS Suite and Jonas software.
- A clean safety record and strong leadership skills.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $100,000 - $130,000
- Vacation: 3-4 weeks
- Health & Medical: 100% extended coverage
- Retirement: RRSP matching (3% increasing to 5%)
