General Foreman: Civil/Wastewater Division

Our client is a diverse general contractor that operates throughout Canada. Their civil division specializes in building water treatment and wastewater treatment plants. They have been operating for nearly 50 years.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
This is an out-of-town position in the interior of BC. This is an opportunity to join a company that is employee owned and to advance in your career professionally, while working on an interesting 2-year project.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The General Foreman plays a key role in supporting the Superintendent with day-to-day site operations on commercial construction projects. This includes contributing to project budgeting, scheduling, team performance, subcontractor coordination, and ensuring profitability. Clear communication with the Superintendent, Project Manager, and field team is essential. The General Foreman also helps provide guidance and leadership to crew members on site.

  • Work closely with the Superintendent to lead on-site activities, ensuring projects are executed successfully and align with contract requirements and client expectations.
  • Help identify information gaps and assist with preparing and submitting RFIs when needed.
  • Take part in organizing labor, materials, and site logistics, including setup and layout planning.
  • Support with maintaining accurate project records such as daily reports, safety logs, timesheets, invoices, material receipts, purchase orders, and photo documentation.
  • Track productivity throughout the project and suggest or implement changes to improve performance and reduce inefficiencies.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to keep work on schedule, within scope, and in line with contractual commitments.
  • Promote sustainable construction practices, including reducing waste and diverting material from landfills to lessen environmental impact.

THE REQUIREMENTS

  • 3-5 years experience working in a similar position
  • Experience working on water treatment projects a strong asset
  • Experience on concrete and excavation a strong asset

COMPENSATION

  • $40 - $55 an hour depending on experience
  • Lucrative LOA
  • Standard medical and dental benefits
  • 2-3 weeks vacation
