A well-established boutique law firm based in the heart of Toronto’s Financial District, specializing in Civil Litigation, with a strong focus on Employment Law, are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Legal Assistant to join their team. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience in civil litigation or employment law practice, with a strong ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of 3 lawyers, including the Partner and a superior Law Clerk, as well as one other Legal Administrative Assistant (LAA). You’ll be supporting two lawyers and the Law clerk in managing a variety of legal tasks related to plaintiff work, specifically focusing on individuals from major professional organizations.
About the Position
As a Legal Assistant at this firm, you will play a key role in supporting the legal team with administrative and legal tasks. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing and filing legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, and court forms
- Maintaining client files and a high level of organization in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Assisting with case management, including document management, court filing, and client communication
- Managing calendars and scheduling appointments, meetings, and court dates
- Preparing and submitting billing, along with follow-up on outstanding accounts
- Assisting with drafting and editing legal correspondence and documents
- Assisting with high-volume filing, printing, and uploading documents
- Using PC Law for accounting and Amicus software (knowledge of these programs is a bonus)
- Handling general office duties and supporting Ane with office management tasks
The Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, with a focus on Civil Litigation or Employment Law
- Knowledge of the court system and key legal software, including Amicus and PC Law (experience with ACL templates is a plus)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with strong verbal and written English communication skills
- Ability to handle a high volume of work and pivot quickly between tasks
- A proactive and positive attitude, with a willingness to take the initiative and offer ideas
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate and efficient records
- 100% in-office position based at our office located in downtown Toronto
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $70,000 - $75,000, with potential to stretch to $80,000, depending on experience
- Benefits: 100% employer-paid, offering comprehensive coverage (excluding LTD)
- Vacation: 3 - 4 weeks per year
