Position Summary
We have a permanent full-time Registered Dietitian opening in Vernon, B.C. This position works Monday to Friday from 08:00-16:00, and is based from the Vernon Diabetes Centre. This position is focused on supporting clients living with all types of diabetes, and requires the Insulin Dose Adjustment (IDA) competency, or completion of the Diabetes Educator Certificate Program (CDE).

About the position:
The Clinical Dietitian - Diabetes Education Program Insulin Dose Adjustment (IDA)/Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) is a member of a multidisciplinary health care team and provides nutritional care and support to clients living with all types of diabetes. Utilizing and applying advanced knowledge and experience in relevant clinical techniques through IDA competency and/or CDE qualifications and in collaboration with the health care team, the Clinical Dietitian provides nutritional services through: nutritional assessment; care planning and charting; intervention, client goal setting and monitoring; counseling and education programs for patients/clients; orientation, guidance, and sharing of collegial information or demonstration of equipment or work processes to others including peers, new staff, and students in accordance with professional standards and program objectives. The Clinical Dietitian provides input on Regional, Provincial, and local diabetes services by participating in the development of nutritional practice guidelines and procedures and by participating in research and continuous quality improvement initiatives for the program.

Qualfications
Baccalaureate degree in nutrition and dietetics.
Successful completion of an accredited hospital based dietetic internship program (or equivalent acceptable to the facility).
Full registration as a Registered Dietitian with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
Two (2) years of clinical nutrition experience including one (1) year working with Diabetes clients in a health care environment, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training suitable to the facility or program is required.
Insulin Dose Adjustment (IDA) Competency, or Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or completion of the Diabetes Educator Certificate Program from Michener Institute.
Valid BC Driver’s License as required.
