About the Job:
As the Long-term Care Attendant (LTCA) you will work as an integral part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, who provide care and support in a long-term care setting. Working under the direction of RN’s and LPN’s, LTCA’s have key responsibilities in the individual care plan for each patient, ensuring their physical, emotional and social needs are supported, while promoting maximum independence.
Typical duties include:
• Assisting with personal care and activities of daily living
• Assisting with mobility, transfers and related equipment
• Performing nursing procedures such as taking temperature, pulse and respiration
• Housekeeping activities relating to maintaining a safe and healthy environment
• Observing and reporting changes in patient behavior and condition
• Accompanying clients on outings and during social activities
• Performing clerical duties and delegated tasks
We have 3 x permanent part-time (0.74 FTE) opportunities.
Shifts of work will be scheduled days, evening and nights; rotating from 07:00 to 15:00, 15:00 to 23:00, 23:00 to 07:00 hours.
Please note: Start date for this position is June 2, 2025 however start date may be adjusted in the event of revisions to Long-term Care facility opening date. **Schedule/shifts will be adjusted, prior to opening to a Monday-Friday schedule (08:30 - 14:30), prorated to FTE to facilitate robust orientation, training & education, and Long-term Care set up.
About this location/unit:
Introducing Nelson Fairview Gardens, a brand-new facility operated by Interior Health as part of the
new Nelson Community Health Campus. This state-of-the-art building will accommodate 75 adults in
need of long-term care. The facility features five distinct neighborhoods across three floors, offering both covered and open outdoor spaces with breathtaking mountain and lake views.
Located in Nelson, a charming city with over 10,000 residents, forming one of the three principal urban centers in the Kootenay Boundary region. Conveniently located midway between Vancouver and Calgary, Nelson is just a 30-minute drive from Castlegar and an hour from Trail, both of which offer commercial airports. Nelson is celebrated for its blend of “storybook charm and cosmopolitan sophistication.” Situated on the shores of Kootenay Lake, it offers a world-class recreational playground in a pristine setting, complemented by all the amenities of modern urban life.

Qualfications
Grade 10
• Graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant / Health Care Aide Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker registry (please include your active number)
