Interior Health is seeking an experienced and dynamic Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our Medical Laboratory Department at Kelowna General Hospital in Kelowna, BC. About the Job
The Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) Laboratory is our largest and most specialized 24/7 lab and progressive teaching facility. The Lab consists of hundreds of team members who work collaboratively in a variety of disciplines such as Collections, Accession, Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, Microbiology, Histology, AP and Molecular.
Medical Laboratory Assistants perform a variety of duties such as taking blood and specimen samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine lab tests, distributing specimens to departments and outside Labs, operating related equipment, entering data into the LIS and performing related clerical duties and ECG testing as required.
This is a Permanent Full Time (1.00) opportunity.

Qualfications
• Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program, plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Canadian Driver’s License as required by position
• Ability to type 25 WPM *5 minute invigilated typing test dated within the past 48 months from an approved institution. Please note we do not accept self-administered online tests*
