Interior Health is seeking an experienced and dynamic Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our Medical Laboratory Department at Vernon Jubilee Hospital in Vernon, BC. About the Job
Vernon Jubilee Hospital (VJH) is in the Okanagan health service area and responsible for providing core medical and surgical specialty services to patients throughout its service area. Located in Vernon, between Kelowna and Kamloops, VJH offers services including core physician specialties, Laboratory, 24-hour emergency and trauma services, acute and obstetrical care.
Medical Laboratory Assistants perform a variety of duties such as taking blood and specimen samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, distributing specimens to departments and outside Labs, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and performing related clerical duties and ECG testing as required.
This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means hours are not guaranteed and may vary and shifts may be at short notice. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent and temporary positions. There are many opportunities with Interior Health that begin with casual employment and lead to regular employment.

Qualfications
• Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program, plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Canadian Driver’s License as required by position
• Ability to type 25 WPM *5 minute invigilated typing test dated within the past 48 months from an approved institution. Please note we do not accept self-administered online tests*
