Medical Transcriptionist

Position Summary
The East Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Permanent Part Time Medical Transcriptionist to join their team in Cranbrook B.C!

This position works Monday to Friday: 08:00 to 12:00 Rotating.

What Will You Work On?
In this role you will perform a variety of Transcription duties including typing, transcribing, and editing dictated reports, clinical notes, forms assessments, letters, etc. using approved transcription and speech recognition software. You will be responsible for ensuring content, grammar, punctuation, and format are correct by clarifying inconsistencies with the dictating physician, reviewing reference material or referring to the administrative services supervisor.

In addition, you will verify and confirm report information against transcribed reports/ or Healthcare information systems and ensure client record security and confidentiality is maintained. Administrative duties will include retrieval of requisitions and distribution of transcribed reports as well as basic trouble shooting of transcription related software along with supporting general administrative office operations.

What should your application include?
-Certificate in Medical Transcription from an approved institution
-Valid 5-minute Typing test of 60 wpm taken within 48 months from an approved institution (non- supervised tests are not accepted)

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience:
Grade 12, graduation from an approved program in medical transcription and one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Abilities:
Ability to keyboard at 60 wpm
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to operate related equipment.
