Khalsa School Old Yale Road is a Sikh faith based school located on 10677-124 Street, Surrey, BC. Academic teachers do not have to be observers of the faith. Teachers from all diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply! We are a growing school with a lot of opportunities! Our teachers are supported, have their own classroom and have one prep period every day.
Currently, we have one Physical Education Teacher opening for the new 2024-2025 school year starting August 29, 2024. We recognize North American teaching experience.

Physical Education Teacher position
Start Date: August 29, 2024
Physical & Health Education 6-7 blocks
Salary: Starting salary of $61,500/year (over 10 months)
*Only offered to CoQ teachers or teachers who have a completed application with
the Teacher Certification Branch (BC) for a teacher with a Certificate of Qualification (CoQ)
**Teaching experience in Canada is recognized for a possible higher starting
salary for CoQ teachers
**Duties:**
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that adhere to the curriculum
-Coaching sports teams (basketball, volleyball, soccer, Track & Field etc.)
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods to ensure all students understand the material
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Assess student progress and provide feedback
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall learning experience
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school events
**Experience:**
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
- BC teaching certification
- Proven experience teaching Physical and Health Education as per the BC curriculum or related subjects (preferable)
-Experience coaching Elementary or Secondary school students
- Strong organizational skills to manage lesson plans and grading effectively
- Excellent communication skills to engage with students, parents, and colleagues
- Ability to tailor teaching methods for diverse learning styles
**Skills:**
- Proficient in proofreading educational materials
- Classroom management expertise
- Effective communication and writing skills
- Experience in tutoring or special education is a plus
- Strong organizational abilities to handle multiple tasks efficiently
