KPMG Law LLP is affiliated with the professional services firm of KPMG LLP. Since our approach is to be an integrated multidisciplinary firm, our team of lawyers work closely with accountants on client engagements and other tax practice areas.

 

KPMG Law LLP’s team includes a group of specialists that have years of experience in completing real estate development projects and transactions. They have a proven strength in ensuring clients are making the best deals possible. We are looking for an experienced Associate with a passion to join our Commercial Real Estate Team.


What you will do

  • Work with a team of specializing in commercial real estate.
  • Lead the execution of real estate deals with intricate structures.
  • Advise clients on long-term real estate portfolio management strategies.
  • Maintain and expand key client relationships.
  • Stay ahead of real-estate specific legislative changes and any implications on real estate transactions, as well as identifying emerging market trends in Ontario.
  • Structure innovative financing arrangements and joint ventures.
  • Provide strategic legal advice on real estate complexities, including proactively advising clients on adapting to regulatory shifts.
  • Advise on developing strategies to optimize real estate portfolios, including advising on divestitures, acquisitions, and lease renewals.
  • Provide expertise in identifying and mitigating complex risks, such as regulatory changes or environmental liabilities.
  • Manage cross-border real estate transactions involving international investors, and some understanding of the implications of foreign investment laws.

What you bring to the role

  • Over 5 years’ experience in Real Estate Law
  • Good standing with Law Society of Ontario
  • Proven track record in managing real estate transactions with focus on efficiency and client satisfaction
  • Knowledge of green building practices, affordable housing and sustainable development regulations in Ontario to meet growing environmental and social responsibility demands would be an asset.
  • Experience in condominium and subdivision development would be an asset.
  • Experience in commercial leasing would be an asset.
  • Excellence in negotiation and clear communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to conduct detailed research
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment
