Posting Overview:
The Accounting Clerk I will provide accounting functions and tasks to ensure accurate and detailed financial information, promoting fiscal responsibility including account analysis, month end and year end processing and providing assistance and support to the Supervisor of Accounting. The Accounting Clerk I will provide support to schools on the day to day use of School Cash and K212 Accounting software.
Qualifications/Experience:
• Graduation from a 3-year community college accounting diploma is a minimum. Preference given to candidates that are working toward or have successfully completed a professional accounting designation;
• Three years of experience in a similar financial environment is preferred.
Other Key Skills & Knowledge :
• Thorough understanding and working knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures;
• Focus on accuracy and attention to detail;
• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills in order to interact positively and effectively;
• Comfort with leading training sessions for small and large groups on accounting software;
• Strong analytical skills required to perform monthly and annual account analysis;
• Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office products;
• Proficiency with e-mail as a method of communication;
• Demonstrated team member in order to work effectively with all staff;
• Excellent organization and time management skills in order to meet deadlines;
• Experience with K212 software and School Cash Suite is an asset.
Position Effective Date & Length:
Temporary, CUPE 12 month, 35 hours/week
Level 5 - $30.64/hour - $32.39/hour
