Job Description:

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the production process of world class automated welding equipment primarily servicing the aerospace sector, coordinating all production activities and operations, and ensuring that manufacturing processes run reliably and efficiently. This role involves managing members of variety of core competencies, scheduling, quality control, and liaising with other departments to ensure timely delivery of products.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Production Planning:
    • Develop production schedules and meet production targets.
    • Coordinate with sales, inventory, and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of incoming materials and finished goods.
  2. Resource Management:
    • Allocate resources effectively and manage the workforce to meet production targets.
    • Ensure proper maintenance and utilization of equipment and machinery.
  3. Quality Control:
    • Ensure established quality standards are implemented to fulfil expectations.
    • In conjunction with quality and production staff, address and resolve any quality issues that arise during the production process.
    • Maintain & arrange calibrations and maintenance of shop & tools
    • Understanding of ISO 9001 or AS9100
  4. Process Optimization:
    • Analyze production processes to identify/implement improvements.
    • Implement lean manufacturing techniques and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  5. Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental regulations and Company Safety Policy expectations.
    • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the production team.
    • Understanding of machine safety design such as UL, CE , CSA , NFPA would be an asset
  6. Team Management:
    • Supervise and support up to 25 production staff, single day shift, including training and development.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
  7. Reporting:
    • Prepare and present production reports, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational efficiency metrics.
    • Maintain accurate records of production activities and inventory levels.

  8. Problem-Solving:
    • Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
    • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to resolve technical problems.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a production management role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of production management principles and practices.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficient in using production management software and tools, preference for experience with Great Plains.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Project
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal background in Manufacturing Management/Engineering
  • Previous managerial role
  • Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or similar.

Work Environment:

  • This position is typically based in a manufacturing facility and may require occasional travel to other sites or suppliers.
