Senior Manager/Director, Assurance & Advisory (Risk Advisory Services)

(Temporary Position - 16 months starting December 2024)

Work model: Minimum 4 days in the office per week.

Base office: 1 Presidents Choice Circle, Brampton, Ontario, L6Y 5S5

Travel: Requirement to travel to our various offices in the Greater Toronto Area (including Toronto and North York), from time-to-time, based on project and business needs

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Senior Director, Risk Advisory, the Senior Manager/Director will be responsible to oversee, drive and execute on a portfolio of high-impact and high-visibility advisory and assurance engagements, driving deep knowledge and strong client service. The Senior Manager/Director is expected to deliver consistently seamless service to their dedicated internal client base, and provide leadership for the A&A team for generating top-quality business-oriented solutions, and building impactful relationships with a variety of cross-functional stakeholders in critical and exciting operational and strategic areas.

The Risk Advisory group is looking for an individual with experience leading teams and serving an executive-level internal client base, with an entrepreneurial and business-oriented mindset, who is self-driven and possesses the right critical thinking, storytelling, leadership, and interpersonal skills to proactively seek answers to important business challenges while also guiding our teams in providing world-class service to our stakeholders.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Mandate & Engagement Leadership

  • Simultaneously oversee, drive, and at times hands-on execute a portfolio of operational, financial and strategic Assurance and Advisory engagements, focusing on governance, risk, controls, and performance improvements
  • Partner and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve existing processes, help design new processes, and elevate our thought leadership around our businesses
  • Provide independent, proactive & informed viewpoints, aiming to improve internal control, reduce risk exposures, and validate the efficient & effective use of company resources
  • Create, oversee and present highly visual, creative, client-focused deliverables and presentations, which connect the dots in a simple and business-oriented way, capturing current and emerging risks, potential issues, opportunities, and mitigating activities which are meaningful and practical for the businesses
  • Champion client specific initiatives to enhance the quality of our service delivery including benchmarking, internal / external research, industry events, thought leadership, relationship building, training and competency development
  • Own the creation of crisp key quarterly deliverables including senior management summary presentations and Board presentation materials

Client and Relationship Management

  • Own all key client relationships and communication within your active portfolio, coordinating messaging and information sharing seamlessly with Risk Advisory leadership
  • Proactively develop relationships with key stakeholders across the business, and bring that new knowledge back to the group to ensure we are adaptable to changing business needs and adding value in the right direction
  • Stay in tune with emerging issues impacting our businesses, and propose fresh and creative ways to help us and our stakeholders use this information to our competitive advantage

Team Management

  • Lead by example as a professional and on-the-project coach for junior team members
  • Maintain high standards of accountability (both of self and of the team) for the quality of preparation, analysis, thought leadership & deliverables
  • Perform and/or oversee any ad-hoc requests by RAS leadership as necessary

COMPETENCIES

  • 7+ years of experience in management consulting, assurance, operations, business, finance, or other professional discipline (Big 4 firms experience is a strong asset)
  • A bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
  • CPA, MBA, CIA, PMP or similar designation is an asset
  • Strong business acumen, with an ability to connect the dots between the business strategy, tactics, risks, and control environment, with expertise in GRC fundamentals & frameworks
  • Superior communication and storytelling skills, and a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at the right times and level of detail (both written and verbal)
  • Proven problem-solver, with an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and solutions-based mentality
  • Passion and exceptional desire to make an impact in the business and community
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
