Medical Laboratory Technologist - CVH Histology

Functioning as a team player, contributes to the promotion and treatment of health conditions by performance and interpretation of diagnostic laboratory tests, ensuring optimum patient care.

Contribute to safe, quality care by:

  • Accessioning of specimens and gross dissection/dictation of small uncomplicated specimens.
  • Under the supervision of a Pathologist prepares surgical specimens for frozen sectioning examination.
  • Performs embedding techniques and microtomy to produce acceptable quality slides.
  • Performs manual and automated routine and special stains including immunohistochemistry as required.

What must you have?

  • Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) General Diploma from a recognized school of Medical Laboratory Technology.
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).
  • Current experience in Histology (embedding, microtomy, routine and special staining) required.

What else do you bring?

  • Experience with gross dissection preferred.
  • Experience with immunohistochemistry an asset.
  • Proven attendance record.

  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others.
