The Material Handler (Tooling) is responsible for the coordinated movement of all dies and materials required to ensure the most efficient flow of production. The role also involves performing the required safety inspections and periodic maintenance on the dies.
Tasks that this position controls or is responsible for:
• Responsible for the coordinated movement of all dies and materials and or items required, to ensure the most efficient flow of production as well as ensuring load / containers etc. are balanced and secure before moving:
- Pre staging dies/check fixtures/material according to die setup procedure
- Load coils and assist operators in starting coils according to die setup procedure
• Accurately completes all paperwork as required including Pre Shift Crane Inspection and Pre Shift Forklift Inspection forms
• Assist operators in performing Pre Shift Press Safety Inspection ensuring compliance with all required Health and Safety procedures
• Provide relief on machines for operators.
• Periodic maintenance on dies including change external date stamp, replace nitro bottles, mix and refill lube main tanks and small tanks on presses.
Other Tasks:
• Continuously adhere to and apply the Magna Employee’s Charter, the Magna Corporate Constitution, and the Magna Operational Principles in all aspects of position and interaction with others.
• Effective use of MBCM’s Escalation Process.
• Compliance to IATF customer requirements
• Attends all scheduled meetings and training.
• Understands and follows established rules, procedures and policies relating to position.
• Ensure a safe working environment by observing safe work practices and by following all safety policies and procedures.
• Other duties that may be assigned.
- Understands and shows commitment to the values of the Employee Charter and Cosma.
- Demonstrates clear and respectful communication skills in all situations.
- Understands the key processes and systems within the organization related to their work flow ensuring work flow is conducted efficiently while consistently seeking ways to improve outcomes and enhance results
- Demonstrates enthusiasm for and commitment to the position and accepts responsibility for personal actions.
- High school/GED or equivalent with previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Completion of grade 12 or equivalent with previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Background in manufacturing with press experience including quality and safety initiatives
- Must hold a valid counter-balance forklift certificate/OH Crane Train Certificate
- 1 year related experience
- Physically capable of performing essential duties of the job
- Working knowledge of the English language both written and oral.
- Thorough understanding of SPC and Quality Requirements.
