THE ROLE
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Final Tester 1st shift (Mon-Thurs, 6:00am-4:30pm) - Quality Control Technician is responsible for doing all final testing of the finished tanks.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans testing schedule, based on shipping and production requirements and schedules.
- Performs visual inspection of product, checking for handling damage or any other nonconformance of U.L. or Company standards, and facilitates corrections.
- Performs visual inspection of finished products and follows proper procedures to facilitate the correction of damages and other problems.
- Performs all required tests in accordance with established procedures. Reports occurrence of a leak or potential leak to Production Manager or Plant Manager immediately.
- Patches test holes in ribs and performs other repairs as necessary.
- Transports completed product to temporary storage area and properly secures to prevent damage.
- Operates all hand tools, power tools, material handling equipment and machinery proficiently.
- Meets or exceeds material and labor standards.
- Maintains work area that is safe, neat, clean, and free of debris.
- Reports information on process sheets, logs, and time cards accurately and timely.
- Assist in the Post Cure of fiberglass tanks, as required.
- Other activities as required to support the production or quality process.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Two to five (2-5) years of related experience in Quality Control.
- General related experience or previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.
- Ability to read and follow blueprints and drawings.
- Good understanding of the English language including verbal, written, and reading skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others and work as part of a team.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to learn new tools and equipment.
- Comfortable working in a fiberglass plant environment.
- Ability to work at heights and within confined spaces when required.
- Ability to work variable hours including overtime and weekends as needed.
- Ability to meet physical requirements including lifting up to 20-50 lbs., bending, crouching, kneeling, and standing for extended periods of time.
