Support the implementation of a industry leading Occupational Health and Safety program by leading the Occupational Health programs available to all employees and business partners. This include maintaining high standards of first aid, occupational and personal health and hygiene consultation, health education, emergency services and rehabilitation for injured workers.
- Responsible for coordinating the activities of the Occupational Health Services department and functioning under the medical directives of the Employer’s Occupational Health Physician.
- Conduct health and safety program needs assessment and/or audit.
- Provide gap analysis and/or make program recommendations.
- Perform and support risk assessment (e.g. physical demands analysis, exposure monitoring and medical surveillance).
- Educate and train to help employers and employees understand risk factors, preventative measures and safe work practices related to Occupational Health.
- Share knowledge and expertise to improve employee health and safety.
- Provide first aid to all Porcupine Gold Mines employees and contractors.
- Lead immunization programs related to seasonal and occupational illnesses.
- Coordinate and provide pre-placement and Periodic medicals
- Coordinate and perform employee medical assessments as required for pre-employment and ongoing health screening as required due to occupational exposure hazards
- Promote healthy lifestyles and employee health education (e.g. smoking cessation, fitness, health screening)
- Support the implementation of the Injury Management programs by managing occupational and non-occupational claims and return-to-work programs
- Support the implementation of the Drug and Alcohol screening and Fitness for Duty programs.
- Support the implementation of the Injury Management programs
- Manage supplies and organization of site first aid and medical centres
- Maintain confidential medical records.
Occupational and Non-Occupational Claim Management
- Administer First aid reporting to internal and external agencies
- Lead occupational and non-occupational claims and return-to-work programs
- Support early and safe return of work following injury/illness to maximum medical function.
- Provide Supervision, Employee and Union with training on the process and benefit of return to work.
- Analyze trends and statistics on injury, illness and workplace practices to ensure program effectiveness.
- Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario as RN or RPN
- Valid Standard &/or Advanced First Aid/CPR certificate
- Audiometric Technician certificate
- Pulmonary Function Technician certificate
- Minimum five (5) years acute care nursing experience, Occupational Health and/or Out-Post (remote) setting.
- Minimum five (5) years experience in leadership roles.
- Ability to plan and schedule programs and activities.
- Demonstrate good problem solving skills.
- Work well in a team atmosphere.
- Good communication skills
This is a site based position supporting Porcupine Gold Mines in Timmins, ON
The schedule is 4 days on 3 days off
This is a 16 month contract expected to start May 2025
