The RF Communications and Wireless Specialist will provide support on the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the two-way radio and wireless communications (Motorola Capacity Max, Canopy, BDAs, AirFibre, PMP communications, mesh network, among others). They will also provide support on the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the leaky feeder system. They are to ensure safe, reliable, and effective communications systems across site. Supporting reliability engineering, maintenance, and asset management best practices. Improving the reliability of critical assets and driving continuous improvement of critical assets. They will also provide technical and statutory guidance; Supporting operational technologies specialists in their role with two-way radio, IP network and wireless technologies.
Our Red Chris Operational Technologies unit is now recruiting for the position of RF Communications and Wireless Specialist, with a competitive base salary between $94,000- $115,000/yr, with additional overtime opportunities. The awarded salary will be dependant on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications. We are seeking an individual for a Fly-In, Fly-Out opportunity working on a two-weeks-in, two-weeks-out
To lead the delivery of communications infrastructure projects in accordance with business requirements and needs, including:
- Execution and delivery of site based two-way radio and wireless communications systems and projects
- Install, calibrate, repair, upgrade, and troubleshoot of the Radio System infrastructure, including coverage issues
- Program, install, calibrate, engrave, repair, upgrade, and troubleshoot radio subscribers (Portable, Mobiles and Control Station)
- Install, align, repair, and troubleshoot PTP and PMP wireless links
- Maintain the inventory for RF Comms material, equipment and tools updated and with the minimum quantities required
- Maintain the Radio Sites in optimal conditions, visit all RF sites at least 1 time every rotation to check sites conditions: environmental (HVAC condition, Generator, Temperature), cleanliness, UPS condition, tower condition.
- Review Leaky feeder System Alarm at Smartcom remote diagnostic tool
- Review Radio System Alarm at System Advisor
- Provide support to Operational Technologies Specialists in their different tasks.
The successful candidate will meet the following job requirements, which include but are not limited to:
- A combination of RF Communications/Electrical/Electronics/Computer Systems/Applied Science engineering technology degree from accredited institution;
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a heavy industry environment;
- Thorough understanding of Radio frequency systems, Industrial Communications Networks including wireless systems
- Computer literate and advanced skills in the Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Outlook, SAP)

The expected salary range for this role is CA$94,000- $115,000/yr . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s pay history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about pay history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
