The Red Chris Tailings Impoundment Area (TIA) is looking for a Scheduler and Controller, with a competitive base salary between $125,000.00-$148,000.00 dependant on experience, skills, and qualifications, responsible for project schedules, construction and contract progress monitoring, cost control and change management. You will lead the development of contract controls procedures, tools, templates, and best practices to support the execution of construction projects. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual with strong commercial management and project controls skills to support the TIA Construction team while interfacing with other Red Chris project and Finance Teams. Reporting to the Principal - TIA Construction, and working in a high paced and dynamic team environment, you will be supporting the TIA Construction team to ensure that all work is carried out in a safe, structured, and timely manner.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities will include the below, that may expand as the needs of the organization changes:
- Develop and maintain project schedules for heavy civil earthworks construction scopes
- Drive contractor performance to meet contractual obligations, key milestones and minimize the business exposure to commercial risks
- Ensure effective change management of contractor claims against project budgets.
- Analyze contractor progress reporting and labour burn rates against progress claims
- Manage Contractor LEMs, monthly progress claims, change orders, and invoice reviews
- Support and participate in weekly project schedule review meetings and prepare material and contractor hour progress quantities for schedule updates
- Supports the TIA team prepare accruals and forecasts for finance and executive teams
- Ensure contracts are closed out appropriately and in accordance with applicable legislation
- Support the development of weekly and monthly cost and schedule progress reporting and dashboard updates
- Maintain the relationship with contractors and other site project stakeholders
- Collaborate with the construction and engineering teams to ensure that impact of changes are well articulated
Qualifications and Experience - required:
- College diploma or university degree in a related discipline
- 8-10 years experience in Mining or construction project settings
- Proficiency in Primavera (P6) Project Planning & Scheduling Software
- Knowledge of planning, forecasting, cost estimating, cost control and reporting
- Strong working knowledge of (EPR) Enterprise Planning Resource systems (e.g., SAP)
- Expert knowledge of MS Office tools
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices
- Proven ability to solve complex problems, compare and analyze voluminous and complex data and financial data sets.
- Strong planning, organizational and communications skills
Qualifications and Experience - desirable:
- SCM certification
- Construction Contract Formation/Administration experience
- Experience in working with First Nation Partners and contractors
