About Brucejack

Our Brucejack Gold Mine, a high-grade underground mine in beautiful northern British Columbia, is located approximately 65 kilometres north of Stewart. Brucejack is a fly-in/fly-out operation with pick-up points across Western Canada, making it easy for people from different places to join us. We work closely with local First Nations communities including the Nisga’a, Tahltan, Gitanyow, and Gitxsan, to build respectful partnerships and celebrate our shared community.

Purpose


The Underground Millwright is responsible for safely maintaining, repairing and overhauling fixed assets in the underground mine.

Essential Duties

Perform following duties, with safety being the number one priority:

  • Attend daily PSM meetings
  • Complete and support safety documentation to support work as required
  • Support FRM program
  • Preform preventative maintenance with regular inspections and preventive maintenance on fixed assets such as conveyors, crusher, pumps, rock breaker, compressors, fans, feeders
  • Perform all maintenance duties for repairing underground assets including troubleshooting, diagnosing, and maintenance repairs required
  • Maintain equipment to design specifications
  • Complete Work Management process as required by Newmont asset management standards
  • Work closely with planners to ensure parts and tools are available for tasks including kitting and stagging as required
  • Provide alignment to rotating equipment as required
  • Complete maintenance records and management in CMMS - SAP
  • Coordinate kitting and stagging duties for work coordination as required
  • Contribute to maintenance reliability improvements
  • Read blueprints, schematics, and drawings
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Training & Experience

Position requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Red Seal Millwright certification
  • 5+ years maintenance experience in industry and underground maintenance preferred
  • The ability to troubleshoot mechanical, infrastructure, and support systems
  • Working knowledge of SAP would be an asset
  • 5 + years in Millwright activities in an industrial environment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Detail and results oriented with the ability to multitask, and adhere to deadlines
  • Familiarity with CMMS - SAP
  • Technical and mechanical aptitude with knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyance, and crushers
  • Operating lifting devise and familiarity with ancillary equipment required to complete repairs
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Suite
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
Working Conditions
  • Work at remote location (camp) on 13 days on, 13 days off rotation, 2 travel days schedule.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift.
  • Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shifts.
  • Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions
  • Able to work in underground mine conditions
  • Able to wear PPE as required including respirator for complete shift

The expected salary range for this role is CA$61.85. This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s pay history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about pay history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
