Musselwhite Site
Reporting directly the UG Mine Superintendent, the Mine Advisor is responsible to work collaboratively with and support UG Mine Coordinators, Supervisors and crews to optimize mine production and development results.
* Ensure monthly and weekly mining plans are achievable and support the 3-month forecast.
* Manage the planning process to ensure communications have occurred with all relevant parties to mitigate the chance of unplanned events occurring.
* Work with Underground Coordinators and front line Supervisors to develop and maintain the mining schedule
* Collaborate closely with Engineering Operations Planners to achieve weekly and monthly targets.
* Responsible for monitoring and measuring compliance to plans and take the required steps to get back on plan.
* Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations and legal requirements as well as adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures.
* In conjunction with UG Mine Coordinators, conduct an analysis/review for all reporting and investigation of Near Misses.
* Mentor front line supervisors in conducting thorough near miss and accident investigation.
* Manage and follow-up on action items from hazard reporting tools, accident/incident investigations, JHSEC tours.
* Review and ensure underground procedures and processes are current.
* Raise the personal accountability of Mine department personnel in safety awareness.
* Work with Underground Coordinators to manage Mine department manpower and mining schedule.
* Ensure mining plans and methods minimize all potential risks to an acceptable level.
* Responsible for the implementation and monitoring of new data flow system (DESWICK OPS).
* Provide relief support to Mine coordinators and Superintendents as required.
* Responsible for ensuring an effective mine coordination meeting is conducted each shift, including clearly communicating shift target and mine priorities.
* Indirectly responsible for the oversight and performance of mine operation front line supervisors and crews.
* Foster a safety-first culture by promoting adherence to all safety standards, policies, and procedures.
* Develop, mentor, and coach team members, supporting their professional growth and skills development.
* Experience working in operational leadership roles and be confident in effectively leading, mentoring and coaching team members as well as interfacing with senior leaders
* A desire to build and lead engaged teams
* Degree or diploma in a related field in Mining Operations., combination of education and experience in related field will be considered.
* Completion of the Ontario Supervisor’s Common Core Program (#P770121) or ability to obtain.
* Minimum 10 years of operational mining experience
* 3-5 years in a leadership capacity
* Demonstrate good work ethic.
* Strong working knowledge of mining methods and applications.
* Good understanding and working knowledge of the applicable legislation and regulations for mines and mining plants.
* Knowledge of mine rescue techniques, WHIMS requirements, and loss control principles.
* Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
* Strong computer skills
The work schedule for this position is 14 on, 14 days off.
